How to Make Simple Hammock Chairs with Fabric, Rope and Driftwood Snags
A hanging chair is a fantastic addition to an outdoor seating area that every person wants to have. It is so enjoyable to relax in a hammock seat by the sea, catching warm rays of the sun on a porch, or celebrate carefree days in a backyard. Do you know how easy it is to make a hanging chair at home? A DIY hanging chair can be created with a piece of outdoor fabric, rope, and a strong twig.
Lushome shares a visual tutorial for designing a DIY fabric hanging chair. This design is ideal for suburban homes, summer cottages, relaxing porches, and beautiful gardens. Required materials: a rope, an outdoor fabric, a large and strong snag, a sewing machine, fabric paints and a brush (optional), threads, scissors, white acrylic paint for a snag (optional), and sandpaper.
Measure the required size of fabric and cut it into a rectangle. On the long sides, turn up the fabric by approximately 2 inches (5 cm) and sew it in place with a sewing machine. To add an artistic touch to your DIY hammock, consider decorating it with fabric paints. Large motifs and images are perfect accents to add originality to the handmade hanging chair.
Cut the rope into three equally-sized pieces and thread two pieces into the previously formed pockets on the fabric. Use sandpaper to smooth the surfaces of a driftwood or snag piece. Paint it with white acrylic paint and leave it to dry completely.
Tie a third piece of rope to the central part of the driftwood piece or a snag. On the sides of the driftwood, tie a loop and hang the hammock on a tree. Test the strength and ensure the structure is safe and durable.
