Soft Work Seating System for Vitra, Contemporary Furniture Design by Barber & Osger
Soft Work is a seating system featuring contemporary design in a minimalist style. Designed by London-based studio Barber & Osgerby for Vitra the living room sofa with modular parts blends the attractive look and elements of multi-functionality. The contemporary sofa is inspired by the rapidly changing atmosphere of workspaces and contemporary homes. Freelance careers and computer technologies that became an essential part of modern life influence contemporary furniture design. The designers present the seating system which allows change tasks while staying in the living room.
The modern sofa shows the design focused on the flexible working environment. The furniture design is centered around a comfortable seating area versus an interior design including a computer desk. The space with a workstation disappears merging with the living room. A computer desk takes too much space, and a workstation is hard to make stylish, elegant, and well-organized.
Multifunctional, modern sofa
With mobile technology, people need a comfortable place to hang out instead of a space with a table to sit and work on a computer occasionally. The modular furniture design features a smart construction allowing the Soft Work seating system to transform. The seating and working functions are created with pivoting tables and power sockets located between the seat cushions.
