The room features low energy lighting, solar panels and a wood-burning stove to produce hot water. A low-flow toilet and shower design reduce water usage. Environmentally-friendly paints and low-impact green building materials were used throughout.

A bicycle powered TV is added to eco friendly room furniture and decor accessories, the bed, bedside table, dressing table, wardrobe and mirror, that were crafted by a local tree surgeon from a single beech tree which fell in the village.

Christina Simons, the hotel’s owner, has spent nearly eight years turning the 360 year old country home into a green retreat, recycling materials and celebrating its heritage. The building dates back to 1650, and was actually constructed from a reclaimed ship.
