Leaf Shaped Roof and Walls Add Unique Elements to Organic House Design

Original roof designs add dramatic details to modern houses. Leaf-shaped roofs with plant-covered steel structures define this house design in the UK, designed by architecture studio Michaelis Boyd. Named Leaf House, the contemporary home celebrated the area’s outstanding natural beauty and provided a beautiful dwelling for a family. The roof’s leaf shape emerged not only in reference to the surrounding woodland but also offers 360-degree views and allows natural light to its interiors.

Lushome presents the modern organic design that comprises a dwelling with a leaf-shaped plan and a neighbouring addition, the Long Barn. Leaf House, especially the roof design, is inspired by the simple, organic form of two leaves resting together, creating a long, oval shape. The home interiors feature organic forms and natural materials that create a beautiful connection with the landscape.

Leaf-shaped roof design

Alongside the house, Long Barn, aligns with the barn that previously occupied the site, adding more living spaces to the modern house with a leaf-shaped roof. The addition, which features a long, narrow space, includes a home office with a mezzanine, a yoga studio, and two guest suites. Lined entirely in Douglas fir timber, the living spaces match the exterior of the modern house and are illuminated by high porthole windows.
